I was donated an old piano which was beyond repair (see below) and loved the idea of making it into some new instruments. I was already making a cajon for a friend and thought this would be an ideal starting point.

This cajon is made from the solid mahogany side panels from the piano, with a mahogany ply back from the piano’s front panel. The string/snare rack is fully adjustable via the bolts on the underside. The tapa is 5mm ply and can be tuned using the 8 screws at its top.

All hand joined, beveled and finished. It is a solid, quite heavy piece, and sounds great to play (big bass sound)

Please contact me if you would be interested in buying this piece, or if you have ideas for other instruments I could make from the piano parts.
